Christ the King
Just contemplate the scene from the Gospel.
The Son of Man coming in glory with all His Angels.
What a wonderful sight that would be.
Seeing Jesus seated upon a cloud descending from heaven with the choirs of Angels, wearing a Golden crown on his head.
But for some a very frightening and terrifying experience for all the non-believers, “There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth”.
Only now do they see the error of their ways.
He will divide the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.Well the number of goats is down to us. We have joint responsibility as Christians to take the lead and to spread the Good News and to Evangelise. We have been given a huge task to bring people to Christ.
When Jesus says “Will he find any faith on earth”, we should have the belief to say “YES LORD, you will”.
The mission of the Church is so important, and we cannot do it alone.
God’s faithful people are needed to work together and evangelise, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Trying to get the numbers of goats down to a minimal, when Christ comes.
Every Christian lives a life not of isolation. But as a member of Christ’s body, The Church.
A rich daily life of prayer is so important, to maintain a close personal relationship with Christ – “Be READY as you do not know the day or the hour.”
We need to be active. We need to set an example to others. The way we live our lives, rich in love and charity.
Loving our neighbour as our self and also to our enemies.
Seeing Christ in everyone we meet, the poor, the lonely, the sick, the homeless, and the people who are starving and thirsty.
Opening our hearts to show kindness, compassion, and love.
We have to set an example as Christians, God’s faithful people, the body of Christ. Being a beacon of light, and Salt of the Earth to others.
It is God’s Word which calls us to conversion and repentance, it opens our hearts and minds to give us the courage to encounter other people, and to be a witness to Jesus Christ.
It is our mission to hand on the Good News from one generation to the next.
It is grounded in Love for all God’s people.
Like a shepherd that looks after his flock, we shall look for the lost one, bring back the stray, bandage the wounded and make the weak strong. – as we have just read from our first reading today.
All of us have been created by God to lead Holy lives, we must be committed and watchful, and to lead the best life we can in Christ Jesus.
Christ is our King, and The King of the World.
We read in Psalm 24 “Who is he, the King of Glory? He, the Lord of armies, he is the King of Glory.”
You and I are that solider, fighting against evil in the Army of the Lord.
We need to put on our armour of God, so that we may be able to stand our ground against all evil.
Stand firm with the belt of truth, around our waist.
Wear the breastplate of righteousness
Have your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace.
Take up the shield of faith, which extinguishes the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
And pray on all occasions.
Jesus Christ is always calling us to come out of ourselves and to share with others what we have received. OUR FAITH.
We have to become fishers of men for the sake of all mankind.
We are God’s chosen instruments.
We were born for this. We read in Jeremiah “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you”.
We have to accept our vocation willingly, saying YES to God with all our Hearts, Minds and Souls.
We must CHANGE the world.
